Annie Leibovitz and Helmut Newton Inspired Her Distinguished Career in Photography

Detroit native Lisa Spindler is a collector, artist, and photographer who began her photography career in high school and continued at CCS. Lisa is best known for her black and white portraits, figurative work, and experimental studies of industrial work and architecture. In today’s interview, Lisa talks about:

  • How her origins as a classically trained artist continue to influence her black and white photographs today in ways that many contemporary artists don’t capture.

  • Lisa talked about what photographer she would buy today if she were in the market.

  • Lisa shares her thoughts on how you can find emerging photographers to follow.
